Banquet
The word “authanakoota” (banquet) in the local language (Kannada) refers to a large gathering that comes together for a ceremonial meal. Smriti Mehra’s documentary is situated on a pig-farm on the outskirts of Bangalore city in India. There is no dialogue, no narration and almost no people in frame: just the pigs living through their daily “gatherings” and “meals”.
