Rosemarie Blank

Documentary filmmaker Rosemarie Blank was born in Poland. She attended the Academy of Art in Berlin and worked for some time as an artist. She studied sociology, psychology and pedagogy.

Blank started making film in 1980. Since then she has been a director, scriptwriter, cinematographer, editor and producer on various film projects. She has also authored articles about cinema. Her films have been presented at many prestigious international film festivals, such as IDFA, IFFR, Berlinale etc. Rosemarie is a laureate of many awards, namely including the Golden Calf for the best director of the Dutch Film Festival for the film Crossing Borders (1994), the Prize for the best artistic documentary in Crռteil (France) for Transit Levantkade (1992), and the Grand-Prix of the “40 Min or More” competition program in Apricot Tree IFF for Berlin Diaries (Yerevan, Armenia, 2015).

Rosemarie is the head of her own film company called “Casa Film”.
