Synopsis: Every Sunday five elderly women conduct a liturgy without a clergyman. Yet some years back the chorus of the Archangel Michael church was bigger… The Privolnoye community in the north of Armenia was founded by Russian soldiers in the middle of the XIX century. It was a flowering and beautiful village, yet now it is uncared-for, and the descendants of the Russian soldiers are immigrating starting from the 1990’s. Only about 80 of them are left – mostly elderly women. Faith and church give meaning to their lives in this godforsaken corner of the world. The Women of Archangel Michael depicts two days in the village during the celebration of the Holy Trinity.
