Message from RA Minister of Culture – 2015

I salute the new undertaking of the Folk Arts “Hub” foundation and Armenian filmmakers – the “Apricot Tree” International Ethnographic Film Festival. I am hoping that this will become a new platform for the popularization of our national culture in the world. It brings me joy to sat that the Armenian film festival family has a new member, whose name “Apricot Tree” is by itself quite symbolic. This time our national heritage is being discovered through the language of cinema, which means that the values rising from our national depths are being reborn and conveyed to the generations thanks to the silver screen.
Folk arts, ethnography and anthropology are among the most interesting subjects that cinema explores, and they are especially addressed by nations with centuries of traditions. The art of film also has a lavish possibility of discovering the hidden layers of our national legacy. I wish “Apricot Tree” to grow its roots deep into our cultural garden and breathe new life into our film ethnography.
