node
Like many other mountain villages in Japan, the one featured node, lost in the country’s mountainous regions, is facing serious problems with its fading population and aging inhabitants.
The film is constructed like a knot, where various people, including the filmmaker, interact with each other. While the film as a whole with its long and patient takes can be interpreted as a documentation the reshaping traditional village in the modern world, it also depicts the process of re-discovering precious memories in conversations between the villagers and the director.
