In a context of fervent devotion to the most adored saints of Mexico City, a new figure was born: Santa Anima. It celebrates the very essence of mankind: creation. Its cult, dedicated to the imagination, invites it to become a creator and artist.

The film questions beliefs in the broadest sense and the human need for fiction, creation and representation. If art can exist without religion, can religion exist without art? Is religion an avatar of artistic creation?

Anne Lise Michoud

Director, videographer and visual artist, Anne Lise Michoud lives and works between the city of Mexico and Paris. In her work, she interferes with reality, moving back and forth between documentary and fiction. Her films and visual installations have been shown in many international festivals, such as the La Plata International Independent Film Festival, in Argentina; Videoformes Festival International d’Arts Numérique, in Marseilles (France); and Mostra Documentaire Contemporain Français in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). She recently presented RE-Créacion, an interactive visual and sound installation, which unfolded in the different chapels of the Ex Teresa Arte Actual in Mexico City, a church converted into a museum of contemporary art.
