Sara Nalbandyan

Sara Nalbandyan is a film critic, culturologist and film director. She studied the Russian Language and Literature in the Yerevan State University. In 2004, she became a Candidate of Arts. In addition to this, in 2010, she received a Master’s degree in Cinema, Television and Multimedia Production from the University of Bologna in Italy.

In 2001 – 2008 Sara was a lecturer at the Russian-Armenian University of Yerevan. Since 2010 Sara is a Board Member of Armenia’s National Theatre Art Association.  Since 2011 she is an Assistant Professor in Yerevan State University (Chair of Culturology, Faculty of History). Also from 2010 to 2011 Sara was the Head of the Literary department of Yerevan’s State Theater “Hamazgayin”.

Sara has been involved in many artistic endeavors. In 2010 she was the artistic coordinator of “Rehabilitation of the Present” Festival of Contemporary Drama. Notably, in 2010, 2011 and 2012 she was a programmer and organizer of the Italian Cinema Week in Yerevan, which was realized with the support of the Embassy of Italy.

In addition to cultural studies, Sara is also interested in filmmaking. In 2010, her film Komos: Voci fuori dal coro won the Best Documentary award of the Libero Bizzari Foundation (San Benedetto del Tronto (AP), Italy).
