Synopsys

It has been 30 years since the village of Skhtorashen in the Martuni region of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is deserted. The only inhabitant is 83-year-old Lena. She has been all alone in the village for two years. Her husband used to live with her and refused to leave the village regardless the fact that it was getting deserted. Bad roads and the absence of a school resulted in people leaving Skhtorashen. Lena has four sons. One of them died in the Artsakh War. Her other sons along with nine grandchildren live in nearby villages. Lena wishes her village not to get abandoned and disappear from the map.

Filmmaker

Garegin Papoyan

Born in 1985 in Yerevan, Armenia. He studied in the Armenian State University of Economics and worked in the sphere of communications for 10 years. Garegin has been interested in documentary filmmaking for over five years. He has worked as a cameraman for TV programs and films at the spiritual-cultural TV channel Shoghakat for about a year.  Garegin shot his first documentary short film Skhtorashen in 2015. He is currently working on a new feature short film.
