Bitter poetry of everyday life in the isolated hills of Eastern Bosnia shows the care and intimacy of two old women, both in their mutual relations and in their relationship with nature.

Maja Novaković

Maja Novaković holds a Master’s Degree in Art History and is working on a Ph.D. with a thesis “Poetics of Heritage in the Work of Sergei Parajanov”. She is a research assistant at the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. She directed, wrote, and produced her first film Then Comes the Evening which premiered at Visions du Reel and was awarded 50 times at, among others: Astra Film Festival, BANFF Center Mountain FF, Nevada City FF, Entrevues Belfort, Cinema Verite – Iran IDFF, Premiers Plans, SEE Film Festival L.A., L’Alternativa Independent FF of Barcelona, and selected at more than 120 festivals such as Hot Docs, SFFilm: Doc Stories, Sarajevo Film Festival, Jihlava IDFF, Vienna shorts, Camerimage, REGARD au Saguenay, Busan ISFF, SFF in Drama, New Orleans FF, Aesthetica SFF, Uppsala SFF, Big Sky FF, DokuFest, etc. The film qualified for an Oscar nomination by winning Best Short Film at Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. It was nominated for Cinema Eye Honors and entered the Doc NYC: Short List. The film was screened at the Metrograph Cinema in New York. She is a Sarajevo Talents alumni.
