This Year Our Festival

1009

Dear friends,
This year our film festival faced many challenges. Not wanting to give in to the pandemic, we adopted a new format, keeping the open-air screenings in Ujan for the villagers and adding online screenings for larger audiences from September till December. However an even greater evil came – the war, which seemed to cancel our initiative both by its brutal course and end. Is this really a time for festivals? After thinking long and hard, even now we decided not to retreat and present you our this year’s program from November 23 to November 30 at 8:30 pm on our website – atieff.org. 15 feature-length and short ethnographic, experimental and animated documentaries, the high artistic and humanist value of which we ensure.
Again, is it really a time for festivals now? This question is better suited for entertainment. A festival, a concert, a book or an exhibition are not entertainment. These are essential conditions and companions for a person’s formation, growth and existence. Their time is always, their place is everywhere. It is they that are a counterbalance to the stereotypes of consumer mentality, which lead to petrification and death. Art and science alone, in spite of all laws of gravity, carry us up to the sublime, take us to places, where we can find the right answers and see the right path.
